Panasonic Viera TH-P42S10A

When it comes to big screen plasmas, Panasonic boasts to have some of the most energy-efficient new models to target the cashed up green-conscious consumer market.

Being part of the Eco PDP range, the Viera TH-P42S10A is capable of using half the energy of the equivalent PZ800 of least year. It manages a 2.5 stars out of six, not great but an improvement for a 1080p plasma.

Of its perks, the Viera TH-P42S10A boasts a 2,000,00:1 contrast ratio, three HDMI ports, 24p playback and an SD card slot.

Of the downsides, Panasonic is yet again a victim of image banding – where gradations of colours appear as bands instead of one smooth image. But being the dominant manufacturer of plasma, Panasonic seems to have found a good trade off between power consumption and performance with the Viera TH-P42S10A.
