The Tomagotchi is back!

Yes that’s right, the 1990s toy that sent shock-waves through schools across the world, and hooked millions of kids into the world of small sized, ‘baby like’ game gadgets, is back on the market.

The difference is that it is not the same old egg shaped device we were once so accustomed to, this time the developers have advanced the Tamagochi to the status of ‘in colour’.

Some of you might not understand the “in color” reference, but if you watch enough reruns of shows from the sixties, you will often see an intro with “Show name” in color.

It would appear that everyone’s favorite virtual pet form back in the day has finally got a color upgrade!

And the toy has followed in Game Boy’s steps, taking over a decade to move on from the black and white.

This new Tamagotchi is also known as the Tamagotchi ID, has a color LCD screen and allows for downloading accessories, rare items, and mini-games.

Users are able to download these games with a separate mobile phone and transmit them through the infrared port.

So, while it has taken so very long for the return of the past video game sensation, it has actually come back as a decent product, unlike what many may have thought.

The Tamagotchi ID is expected to hit the shelves in the next few weeks for a price of around  $60, and as always, will be available in a variety of colours.
